Why Venture Capital & Private Equity?

Tanzania is facing significant challenges in fostering entrepreneurship due to the decline in financial aid and the limited access to capital for startups and small businesses. As traditional funding sources become less reliable, many entrepreneurs, particularly youth and women, struggle to secure the necessary resources to start and grow their ventures. In response, TICGL is conducting a feasibility study to explore solutions that address these capital gaps, assess the current funding landscape, and propose strategies to ensure entrepreneurs have the financial support needed to thrive and drive economic growth in the country.
As traditional funding sources become increasingly scarce, venture capital (VC) and private equity (PE) funds offer a viable alternative for businesses with strong growth potential. These financing mechanisms provide not only capital but also mentorship, business networks, and technical expertise. This study aims to determine the feasibility of launching a Tanzania-based VC & PE fund that aligns with local economic needs and global investment trends.
